Day 3 of Creation: Flowers, Plants, & Trees

We had then much fun learning about Day three of God'south Cosmos! Here is the text to read with your kid today:

"And God said, "Allow the water under the sky be gathered to i place, and permit dry basis appear." And information technology was and so. Every bit my brilliant-theologian-of-a-cousin brought to my attention, each new twenty-four hours of creation is dependent on the prior days of creation. Flowers, plants, and copse can't grow without light (day ane), water (day 2), and air (day ii). Even on the third day, God had to create dry out ground for the plants to abound before he created the plants. Days 1-3 are creating the environment for the balance of God'south creation! Large Blood brother and I enjoyed talking most how God had already created all the things the plants needed to abound!

Not only is today'southward topic beneficial for studying God's word, it is besides a great science lesson as well! All seeds/plants need iii things to survive:  sunlight, water, and air!

For today's activity, we planted seeds. But non in a pot, we planted them in a special style…using a baseball menu sleeve. This idea isn't original to me, it is from the March 2011 consequence of Family Fun Magazine.

Here's what you'll need:  potting soil (we didn't have any so I used some soil from a whole in our k), seeds (we used tomato seeds because that is what I had, merely it would be best to use seeds that are faster-germinating, like peas or scarlett runner beans), trading bill of fare sleeve (hole-punched if necessary), suction cups with hooks, spoon, a straw (or toothpick), and a medicine syringe.

ane. Utilize a spoon (or small shovel) to put the soil into the baseball bill of fare sleeve.

2. Put the suction cup hooks through the holes.
3. Hang on a window.
4. Place a harbinger in the center of one of the sleeve inserts.
v. Allow your child advisedly place the seeds into the straw. Tap the straw while taking information technology out to make sure all of the soil (and the seeds) come out before adding seeds to the next compartment.

7. Permit your child h2o each compartment each day (less/more depending on how much water the seed needs).
Bask watching the seeds germinate and sprout! You will eventually demand to transfer the seeds to a larger pot in one case they have sprouted.
